On April 29, UTA Design students along with Jan Diehl-Michalowski<\/strong> participated in a study tour to the P\/Mint<\/strong> printing plant in Wyszk\u00f3w. From the printing company’s side, the meeting was led by Eliza Ryglewicz<\/strong>, Remy Dybois<\/strong> and employees of the production and technology departments. <\/p>\n

The trip was organized as part of our university’s cooperation with one of the largest digital printing companies in Europe, operating since 1998. The program of the visit was divided into two stages. The first part included a tour of the production facility and a presentation of the offset printing process – from the preparation of materials for printing, through color control and operation of printing machines, to finishing and binding processes. The students were able to see how modern printing production works and learn about the technologies used in high-volume advertising and publishing projects. Much attention was paid to print quality, preparation of materials for production and the role of prototyping in the design process. Participants also learned about examples of large-format realizations, display systems and packaging created for the advertising and exhibition industry. <\/p>\n

The second part of the visit was a workshop and was devoted to packaging design and assembly. During the workshop, students learned about die-cutting constructions, how to prepare packaging molds and practical aspects of working with materials used in production. The workshop allowed participants to assemble selected packaging models on their own and look at their functional and aesthetic functions from a design perspective. <\/p>\n

The tour was an opportunity to learn directly about modern production processes and technologies used in the printing industry. For students, it was also an opportunity to confront design knowledge with practice and see how design works in the actual production process. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
